Death and Mourning

Funeral Procession

Death is an ugly intruder that tears the soul and body asunder. Saturated as our society is with violence and images of death on television, it is surprising how most people exclude the subject from conversation. People keep their thoughts and fears about death to themselves, but eventually it will lay claim to each of us and to those we love.

The good news is, we don't have to be afraid. Y'shua came to "release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage" (Hebrews 2:15). Fear of death causes bondage, but Jesus has liberated us. We have a hope that is unlike that of the rest of the world because we have confidence in our eternal relationship with God through Y'shua.

These words might sound arrogant if you do not espouse a messianic perspective. But if they are true, wouldn't you want to know? What may sound arrogant to you today may sound amazingly true and comforting tomorrow, if you are genuinely searching and asking God for answers.

We hope some of these articles may provide you with hope regarding the truly unavoidable issue of death.

Angela, shiva is traditionally a seven day period after a death during which friends and family visit the mourners at their home, bring food, and spend some time. You can find more at
